Notice to Mariners No 62 of 2010

Sailing Regatta at Marsaxlokk Bay, 31 July 2010 and 1 August 2010

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that The Birzebbugia Sailing Club, under the auspices of the Malta Sailing Federation, shall be holding Sailing Regatta on Saturday, 31 July 2010 and Sunday, 1 August 2010.

Races shall be held between 1200 and 1700 (local time) on Saturday 31 July 2010 and between 1000 hours and 1700 hours (local time) on Sunday 1 August 2010.

Class races shall be held over two (2) adjacent upwind / downwind courses, centred in the selected sailing area depending on the weather conditions at the time. See attached diagram showing areas A, B, C, D and E.

The courses shall be defined by inflatable marks of about 1.5 meters high around which the competitors shall have to sail.

Sea craft Operators not directly involved in this Sailing Regatta are asked to keep clear of the racing area, especially at each of the turning marks Mariners are to abide with instructions that may be given by the Race Organisers safety craft and by Marsaxlokk
