Mapei Marina di Ragusa Regatta - 2010
16 June 2010
The RMYC has just finalised plans for the Mapei Marina di Ragusa Weekend Regatta. Schedule of events is as follows: Wednesday - 23rd June - Briefing & Registration. This will start at 1900hrs at the RMYC. Saturday - 26th June - The RMYC will be organising a passage race from Malta to Marina di Ragusa. We have organised food and drinks for all the competitors to be served on the pontoon after the race. For our first evening in Ragusa, we have made arraignments with the owners of LaOla Beach Bar for all the competitors to meet up after the passage race and enjoy our first evening in Ragusa. LaOla is located a stone's throw away from the Porto Turistico and on Ragusa's Lungo Mare. Sunday - 27th June - Together with the Circolo Velico Scirocco, we are organising a day of Round the Cans Racing just outside the harbour. Briefing will be held in the Porto Turistico at 1000 hrs with racing starting at 1100hrs. 3 races are planned, each lasting approximately one and a half hours. Together with our fleet, we are expecting another 35 Sicilian boats to compete in these local races. The prize giving ceremony will start at 8pm during an "Arabian Dinner Party" in the marina itself. This regatta entrance fee has been reduced to 10 euros whilst the dinner costs 25 euros per person. Monday - 28th June - This is reserved as a lay day with no activities organised. Marina di Ragusa is a large town with loads to do, very good for shopping and excellent for eating so we are sure that you will keep yourselves occupied throughout the day. Tuesday - 29th June - The passage race back to Malta will start in the morning from the waters just outside the Porto Turistico. Thursday - 1st July - Prize Giving will be held at the RMYC on the new terraces overlooking Marsamxett Harbour. For those RMYC members wishing to remain in Marina di Ragusa, we have come to an agreement that any boats prolonging their stay in the Porto Turistico, can do so at a daily rate of just 20 euros per day until the 9th July. In the meantime, berthing during the Mapei Regatta for registered competing boats only is complimentary.
