Gozo Boating Association (GBA) formed
20 May 2010

The Gozo Boating Association - or as it is already being known - the GBA, was formed during a meeting held yesterday the 19th of May at the Mariblu Restaurant in Gozo.

The Association has been formed to represent boat owners in Gozo, especially those whose boats are berthed at the marina in Mgarr. Mgarr marina is the only marina on the island of Gozo, and although its safety is dubious in certain weather conditions, it is still extremely popular with both locals and visiting boats.

The initial meeting was very well attended and membership has been drawn from a good cross section of boat owners. The Association is an independent organisation and has no connection with the Imperial Gozo Yacht Club, although its members are welcome to join the Association should they wish. In fact it was made ample clear that the Association and the Yacht Club should compliment each other.

An acting committee has been formed up to the end of June, by which time a General Meeting will be held and the actual committe is voted in according to the statute.

The Acting Officers of the Association are:

President: Mario Psaila (Editor Malta Maritime Directory & Nautical Magazine)
Vice President: Captain Mario Grech (Gozo Channel Line)
Treasurer: Jeanette Hili B.Accty (Hons),CPA, MIA
Secretary: Paul Devoy L.L.B. (Hons) Sheffield

The Association can be contacted on e-mail info@gozoba.org.
