MARINA D'ARECHI: The all-year-round Marina destination the Med has been waiting for
Perfectly located for the cruising paradise of the Amalfi Coast in the sweet spot of Salerno, Marina d'Arechi is now complete and in 2017 enters the international nautical market as one of the world's most significant marinas.
05 January 2017
Situated within a UNESCO World Heritage site, Marina D’Arechi is the ideal homeport or base for those wishing to explore some of the world’s finest cruising locations by boat, and a destination in its own right. Marina d’Arechi is the true gateway to the Amalfi Coast, providing unrivalled access by yacht to Positano, Capri, Ischia, Ravello, Pompeii and Naples.
A private investment of 120 million euros by the Gallozzi Group (80million of which was concentrated on the marina infrastructure) sees Marina d'Arechi rank as one of the most important tourist facilities ever built in the South of Italy. The project has also been recognised as a symbol of how to develop a new enterprise in Italy, despite the severe crisis affecting the world economy.
With 1,000 berths (80 of which are superyacht berths) accommodating sail and motor yachts from 10 to 100metres the marina prides itself on providing the ultimate lifestyle for yacht owners and superyachts, with luxury and comfort at its core. Little touches and attention to detail equates to exceptional service; and the friendly, professional team are dedicated to making yacht owners, captains and crew feel both ‘at home’ and on holiday at Marina d’Arechi.
It also boasts a state of the art yacht maintenance and repair facility equipped with a 220ton capacity travel lift, as well as a bunker station equipped with 14 fuel dispensers. Primarily however, the focus is always: safety & security first.
Marina d’Arechi achieved the highest rating in the 24PLUS certification for the quality of services dedicated to Superyachts, is a member of the Yacht Harbour Association and is ISO 9000 certified.
The marina is set to the backdrop of some of the finest scenery in Italy, a country renowned for its extraordinary natural and architectural wonders.
Marina D’Arechi itself is a modern architectural masterpiece, with it’s impressive sweeping 1.2km breakwater and arched restaurant buildings. The harbour itself was designed around a fundamental architectural choice, with the concept being that of a nautical island connected to the mainland by a bridge.
This Marina is the largest of its kind with 340,000 square meters of water basin dedicated to yachts; it is also the most modern in terms of service quality and safety standards. It is also ‘green’ and eco-friendly in its design, thanks to the use of natural materials such as the mosaic style natural rock breakwater; pier decking made of recycled wood; sustainable furnishings plus state of the art water and waste recycling systems.
This innovative marina concept is the brain-child of Agostino Gallozzi, Chairman of Gallozzi Group and Marina d’Arechi. The project began in the year 2000 and the first stone was laid in 2010 after a series of complex administrative and legistrative procedures and of course – a global economic crisis. By summer 2012, just two years later, the first berths were inaugurated and the first yachts were hosted. By the end of 2016 the entire infrastructure was completed.
Gallozzi commented: “For anyone living in Salerno, sailing and yachting on the Amalfi Coast is the ideal way of enjoying weekends and holidays with friends and family throughout the year. From the age of 15 sailing the Mediterranean waters I visited so many marinas, none of which really satisfied me 100%. Over time, I developed the idea of building the ultimate marina: the amalgamation of all my nautical experiences, the result of my passion for the sea, in my own town – where the sunset is breathtaking and summer never ends. It had to be an amazing Marina, beautiful and perfect, safe, comfortable, friendly and enjoyable every day of the year, state of the art in technology, the place where you want to be all the time. Now I’m proud to say after years in the planning: Marina d’Arechi is born.”
Marina d’Arechi joins the Camper & Nicholsons Marinas 1782 Club
With the marina infrastructure and hardware complete, the team at Marina d’Arechi sought out international marina management and operational support, innovative marketing insight, knowledge and expertise – Camper & Nicholsons Marinas were the natural choice.
Dan Hughes, Business Development Director at Camper & Nicholsons Marinas commented:
“We have been meeting with Agostino Gallozzi discussing the d’Arechi project since 2014, when I visited the site back then I could tell this project was something special. We kept in touch and in 2016 when the marina infrastructure was finished we were delighted to get a call asking if we’d like to work alongside their team. When I visited again in November 2016 the results are breathtaking – this really is a world-class marina and the team at CNM can’t wait to get involved in helping to put it on the map.”
Agostino Gallozzi commented:
“As a yachtsman and nautical enthusiast I have long been a fan of the Camper & Nicholsons brand. Now – I am very pleased to be working with the best marina operators in the industry to bring Marina d’Arechi to the international stage.”
Camper & Nichsolsons 1782 Club B2B inititaitive was launched in 2014 to attract the finest independently owned marinas to the exclusive global marina network.
Hughes went on to say:
“Marina d’Arechi fits in perfectly with the Camper & Nicholsons Marinas family. The service is friendly, yet professional which makes for a great atmosphere around the marina and all staff are fluent in Italian and English, with others speaking a third language. This truly is an international superyacht marina for the 21st century and a welcoming homeport for all that wish to enjoy the relaxed, luxury lifestyle on offer.”
Collaborating at the London Boat Show 2017
Exhibiting on Stand E027 from Friday 6th January, Marina d’Arechi is proud to collaborate with two other Italian marinas to bring some Italian flair to the London Boat Show in 2017 – Marina Venezia Certosa in Venice and Marina Di Portisco in Sardinia.
In the last few years each have found increased interest from UK boat owners favouring the warmth, charm and friendliness of Italy as their short and long-term mooring destination of choice.
For British boat owners who have grown tired of over-crowded marinas, high charges and the uncertainties of British weather all year round, then a season or two exploring the Med and all it has to offer, is surely ‘on the bucket list’ for many.
For berthing and berth purchase enquiries please visit Marina Manager Anna Cannavacciuolo, Rania and Gianluca - Marketing & Sales, at the London Boat Show on Stand E027 between Friday 6th January and Sunday 15th January 2017.
