The last Annual General Meeting of the Malta Cruising Club (MCC) was of particular interest not only because members were enlightened of the Club’s successful cruising and social programme of activities for 2015 but also because the assemble was held at Fort St Elmo.

MCC Secretary Austin Calleja opened his presentation by acknowledging the collaboration extended by Heritage Malta who besides providing all conference facilities to stage the meeting also hosted present members with a guided tour of the Fort and of the National War Museum. The attendees were divided into two groups, one of which was addressed in the Maltese language and the other for the convenience of foreign members was presented in English.

Members were also given a preview of the events and activities on the Committee’s drawing board for 2016. Envisaged is an appealing set of cruising meetings in local waters as well to Sicily and beyond.

A report on the financial situation of the MCC was also given by Victor Taliana the Club’s Honorary Treasurer.

The Club’s first activities for 2016 should be a First Aid course for boaters and a talk on AIS equipment and the use of DSC on VHF radios.
